From a Shared Dream to Collective Action

Our Story

It started with a simple, recurring conversation among friends: What would it look like to create a space that actually held all of us?

As BIPOC and Queer clinicians, we were tired of “fitting into” systems that weren’t designed for us.

We dreamed of a practice that wasn’t just "inclusive" on a website, but deeply rooted in the soil of our community—a place where our cultures are the very foundation of the care we provide.

Together, we built this collective to be that answer.

Rooted in Community — Kinfolk

What makes our group unique is how we came together. We met at the Pride Center San Antonio working side-by-side as advocates, clinicians, and organizers. It was in the trenches of community work that we realized our values are aligned. We aren't just colleagues; we are a multidisciplinary powerhouse that grew out of a shared mission.

When we say we are "community-rooted," we aren't just using a buzzword, we are taking action. We believe that professional expertise belongs to the people, which is why we remain the clinical backbone of the Pride Center:

Jill Nakrani LPC-Associate brings a unique perspective to the table as she formerly interned at the Pride Center before rising to their current role as a Board Member. This journey from student to leader informs their work as a Doctoral Student; our community's future is shaped by those who have walked the path.

Bianca Johnson-Puelo LCSW and Nelson Hernandez LMFT-S provide the vital clinical supervision for the Center’s counseling, family therapy, and social work interns to ensure that the legacy of queer-affirming care continues safely and ethically.
